Starting Friday the 17th! Long Post!

Friday, October 17, 2008: Nick & Rose's Wedding Day!!

I began the day by visiting the dentist for my check up on my wisdom removal. I thought I was just doing that. Instead, they took xrays and even wanted to do a cleaning that day. I was like ummm no. Cleanings always make my mouth hurt and I had a big weekend ahead of me. They said they'd do it another time.

Went home and did laundry. Started getting ready for the wedding about 1pm and Erik and I left the apartment at 2:15pm thinking that would give us plenty of time to get to Temecula in time for a 5pn wedding.

Traffic on the 91 sucked, so we decided to take the Green River Cut over to the 15. We got to Oak Meadows 20 minutes before the wedding. I was suprised at how many people weren't there yet. My parents were still in there hotel room struggling to get my grandpa into his tux. Thankfully the wedding didn't start exactly at 5pm and they were able to make it before the ceremony started. It was great seeing all the cousins I don't get to see very often. I'm kind of an odd ball when it comes to my family. Being an only child definitely doesn't help. My Dad's side of the family is the type where you have to push yourself into things and I'm not that type of person so sometimes, I'm not the most comfortable around my family in large gatherings. It doesn't help matters that I married a wonderful husband who is also more laid back in social gatherings. I've gotten better over the years and I still get the feeling of being excluded sometimes, but I know its nothing personal, it's just been that way my whole life, and I love my family a lot. I didn't really get to stay and socialize with my family a long time that day or weekend due to a prior plan Erik and I made months before for his birthday.

Back in 2004, Erik started playing an Online Video Game called City of Heroes and his best friend bought me the game for my birthday that year so I could try it out. The rest is history. He and I have been playing the game since and I've met and made some great friends because of it. The same weekend of Nick and Rose's wedding, the developers of City of Heroes decided to throw a convention in Santa Clara, CA. Erik of course wanted to go really really bad and I wanted to as well. In the 4 years we've been playing, we've been to 4 meet & greets and who knew gamers could party like that LOL. We left the wedding at 8:30 and headed out to San Berdo to pick up a couple of friends who were driving with us. The drive was uneventful (and we all managed to stay awake the entire drive). We watched 3 movies on the way up (Iron Man, The Punisher, and 300). We got to they Hyatt Regency at 3:45am.

Saturday, October 18, 2008:

After arriving at 3:45 am, we met our friend Adam (who flew out from D.C. for the event), so he could pick up our friend Justin. Justin was rooming with him and Peter was sharing mine and Erik's room. We stumbled up to our rooms and I were asleep by 4am. We all set our phone alarms for 9am. Registration started at 10am, so we got dressed and stumbled down to find out registration had opened early. We registered and decided to hit up the cafe for breakfast. I had banana pancakes and boy were they good.

Besides our convention, there was a quilting convention going on at the convention center. It was an interesting mix of folks. There were even people in our convention I thought were in the quilting one. After breakfast, we headed back to get our free shirt. It was 11am and none of the events were starting till 1pm. At first, all the others wanted to go for a walk outside the hotel. I was like screw this, I want to hang out meet and talk to others. There is nothing interesting near or around the hotel. So we head back to the bar. I just get a soda, but a couple of the guys get beers. We sit down and just talk. It was a lot of fun catching up with friends and we met new people while we were waiting. We didn't really get to know anyone by their real name, but their game name. We met up with Reverend Jim who played on our server and we offered him a spot on our team for the live even later that day. 1pm eventually came around and we head up for some panels. We all decided to hit up Sexy Jay's Catwalk. Jay is the guy who designs on the costumes in the game. One thing that makes City of Heros unique is the amount of costume choices players get. Of course, there is always something the players want that they can' t have. So there were a lot of beggars in the audience, some girls even offered themselves to him (which Jay is kinda hot). It was a pretty fun panel. After that one we headed to Stories and Lore. It was fun to hear about the stories that don't make it into the game.

The last panels of the day were at 3pm and Erik headed to the how to make a video panel while the rest of us decided to get snacks since dinner wasn't till 6pm. We posied up to the bar again. I ended up sharing a burger with Justin. I'd been eating mostly mushy foods since I got my wisdoms out, so that burger tasted so good. 4pm came around and we headed to the ballroom to gather for the live event. We had Me, Erik, Justin, Peter, Adam to start and we needed at least 8 - 12 players. We picked up Iron Kick, a twosome from Jusitce Server (NuclearToast and Lady Shroud), Reverend Jim showed, and 2 stragglers (The Halloween Man, and Arch Duke Baron Von AssKick who was like 6'8" tall). We made Erik the leader and he went up to get our team number and first clue. The live mission was going to be a scavenger hunt around the hotel. there were hundreds of people in this ball room too. It was going to be crazy! We ended up getting team 13. That number was a running joke with Jill aka Exliberis the community Rep for the game. She's ended up staying on the 13th floor in room 1313, so it was an honor to get that number.

We were told to open our first clue. We had to head to the magnolia room to pick up our bag and next clue. Everyone headed that way. We got our bag and balloon. Inside the bag was a doll, a baggy of craft stuff, a sheet with questions, and I can't remember what else. The first thing we did was answer all the questions. Reverend Jim's wife wasn't feeling well, so she had been up in their room with access to a laptop. We were able to answer most of the questions, but used her help or confirm some of our answers (yes it was minor cheating, but everyone was using their laptops). After that we decided to tactle the doll. We had to create a toon, give her a name, and a back ground. We were allowed to use the stuff in the bag and anything we found along the way. Our first instinct was to make a plant controller. We went outside and gathered plant material and brougt it back inside. Somehow, I ended up being the main crafter. They only gave us white glue in the bag. I painstakingly glued leaves all over her. Lady Shroud made a cool back piece, and Peter and Von Asskick made a Venus Flytrap pet. The glue wasn't drying very well, so i ended up carrying her everwhere we went. We named her Flora Fatale.. I don't remember her back story, but Reverend Jim was all over that puppy. While I was crafting the doll, the guys popped the balloon and got another clue. A couple of the guys went off to take care of it while I finished up the doll.. we finished the doll and headed out. I don't remember what our next clue was, but we got 11 glow straps to go around our wrists. We ended up going all over the place. We could get the clues out of order and the 4th clue we picked up ended up being the last clue.. It was confusing all of the place. At one point we were given a word scramble and no one could figure it out. I took one look and thought about the clue they gave and came up with the answer fairly quickly. At one point, we had to answer a clue from a contact about a girl he lost her number and before he got any farther.. Von Asskick blurted out 867-5309 and we received a cheap rubix cube. We got extra points for solving it so Von Asskick decided to take it apart and put it back together again. We the help of some of the white glue he succeeded. With 30 minutes to spare, we turned everything into room 1314, and hoped for the best. They would be annoucing the winners that evening at the banquet.

6pm the banquet rolls around and boy was that food good. We had a table to ourselves. Iron Kick signed up under our SG so he joined us as well as one of our Coalition mates.. Bullseye. Arch Duke Baron Von Asskick joined us as well. Eventually, they got to annoucing the winners of the Live Mission Event. 3rd place won an 8gig USB stick, 2nd place won a graphics card, and they they go announce 1st place. I never win anything and I didn't think I did this time either, but boy was I wrong. We ended up calling ourselves Lucky 13 and it stuck. We won first place out of 20 teams of 8-12 members. Our prize was a $250 network card and some bling to wear as our torphy. It was such a blast to win. After the banquet, it was time for the costume contest, dance party, and karaoke. Erik entered the costume contest dressed as a copy cat for Vash the Stampede.. The same costume he dressed for Comic Con. He won first place for the copy cat and won a $50 keyboard. He entered the dance emote contest and won a new mouse which he was in real need of. After that we were in the party room sporadically. They were giving prizes away just for handing a the host a certain item. We were mostly hanging on a patio drinking and talking. As usual, I was one of the few girls in our group. Sexy Jay and his friend Patrick joined us and about 1:30am we were all hungry so we decided in our infinite soberness that we'd walk to the IHOP. It was cold out and the IHOP ended up being half a mile away. When you're drunk, that's a long way. We made it and I got their appetizer sampler. I was busy talking Patrick's ear off. He was a nice guy. Both he and Jay shared some of their College road trip stories. Baron Von Asskick showed up and Erik and I hit him up for a ride back. Jay and Patrick took a cab, and Peter, Justin, and Adam decided to walk back. We waited for them in the lobby and headed to bed after that. It was a long but extremely fun day.

Sunday, October 19, 2008:

We slept in a little longer Sunday morning. We decided to skip breakfast and head straight to San Francisco. I'd never been and was really looking forward to it. Sadly, it was really overcast, so we didn't get a great view of the golden gate. We ended up at Fisherman's Wharf. We had lunch at Boudin's Bakeries, I had tomato soup in a bread bowl, while Erik and Chili and the others had clam chowder. It was freezing. We browsed the stores and some of us ended up buying hats at Krazy Kaps. I got a cute one that helped keep my head warm.. thankfully, I remember a jacket. The Seal Lion Sancutuary was insane, and boy did it smell and they are loud. We left just around 4pm and headed to a store by Golden Gate park our friend Adam really wanted to go to. It was Giant Robot and it was a Japanesse style store. Adam bought a shirt and then we checked out a goth store around the corner. I almost bought a pair of shoes there that were so cute. We finally left San Francisco around 5:30. We got back to the hotel and picked up our stuff. We stopped at In-N-Out for dinner and started our drive home. We watched Grandma's Boy, Back to School, and I can't remember the last one we watched because unlike the drive up.. I did take a nap on the way home. We stopped in Casa De Fruta where northern Faire happens and picked up some dry fruit. We got back to San Berdo about midnight, and Erik and I got home around 1am.

Monday, October 20, 2008:

Erik and I both took the day off from work and we were so lazy, I don't remember what we did. I remember sleeping in till like 10:30.

Tuesday, October 21, 2008:

On Tuesday, I finally decided I was joining my cousins for the Surf City Half-Marathon. I decided that I will do my best to get some training it, but that it will be a cool thing to do. I'm mostly just doing Cross Training untill I can make get my ass out of my apartment to start running. I've doing an hour of cardio a night to start and build my asthma tolerance up.

Work was insane this day to. After taking Friday, and Monday off a lot of stuff happened. I missed a Center Coordinator meeting on Friday and I found out a lot of CCs in my charter were complaining about stuff and missbehaving. I showed up to work Tuesday to find out I had a meeting to attend to discuss what happened on Friday. I understand my position's roll in the company but some of my cohorts love to complain.

Wednesday, October 22, 2008:

Had yet another Dentist appointment. Dr. Patel gave me a new fake tooth and it's more of a regular size, so it looks better. She also told me that she thinks in a month or two my mouth will be ready for the initial implants. I'm so not looking forward to it. Then she gave me a rubberband to wear on my right side and I absolutely hate it. She wants to bring one up my upper teeth down a little. I've just been busy busy busy at work otherwise. I did get my hour of cardio in though.

Thursday, October, 23, 2008:

I don't remember what I did outside of work and get my cardio in for the day.

Friday, Octorber 24, 2008:

I ended up going to Costco by myself. Of course I spent too much money and it was just funny trying to push that cart around. I still don't know how I got it all to fit into the trunk of my Yaris. I also got my Cardio in that night.

Saturday, October 25, 2008:

I was going to go running out side, but I had a boot load to do around the apartment for Erik's Birthday party that night, so I just did my hour of cardio inside. We cleaned up and decorated for the party. I didn't know who was all going to show. Fred, Judy, Justin, Peter, and Ryan were the only ones to show. It ended up being a movie night. We watched Scary Movie and Team America: Worl Police. It was a nice causal party. I made meat balls for sandwiches and everyone loved them. Peter finally left around 1am and Fred and Judy stayed the night.

Sunday, October 26, 2008:

I took a rest from my Cardio and made breakfast for everyone. Eggs, hashbrowns and bacon. We ate everything. Absolutely no leftovers. Erik and I wanted to go to Disneyland, but of course Fred & Judy end up staying till like 6pm. Erik and I still went and it was nice. I found another Nightmare Before Christmas purse. This one is bigger and more subtle then some of my past purses. Erik bought the top hat with the Mickey Ears. Quite a few people complimented him on the hat. When we were browsing in one of the stores on Main Street, one of the girls wanted to give him a pin. Since his birthday was on Monday, she gave him a Birthday Pin with his name on it. It was pretty funny. I normally only see kids with that pin LOL. We got home around 10pm and watched an episode of Battlestar Galatica before heading to bed.

Monday, October 27, 2008:

We decided to hit up TFI Fridays for Erik's birthday. We got there during Happy Hour so we went crazy over the appetizers. We each ordered 2. I had Nachos and Quesadilla, Erik order sliders and boneless Chicken pieces, and Mick ordered the Tuscan Spinach dip, and Shrimp Cocktail. We ate a lot, but still had a lot of left overs. I ended up eating my leftover for lunch today. Erik and I watched another episode of BSG and I worked out for only 45min. I was falling asleep while working out, so I stopped crawled into bed and fell asleep at 10pm instead of my usual midnight. It was nice to get more sleep, but I still felt really tired.

Today, Tuesday, October 28, 2008:

So far I've spent a long time writing this. I've squeezed in some work, but I'm feeling it pile up, so I'm going to get back to it. Oh on a fun note, I may have talked one of my coworkers into joining my cousins and I for the Half Maraton. It won't be anything new to her.. She's run marathons before, but it would be nice to have a running buddy. I do have pictures to post of the Fun weekend, so I'll do that in a separate post. Or you can just go to my photobucket http://photobucket.com/rickiella

Can't wait to see him. It's been a year and I was mostly drunk the last time he was out here, so I didn't get to socialize much.

The removal of Wisdom

Many of you know that I had a sudden chance to get all my wisdom teeth removed and I went for it on Saturday at 10am.  The acutal event was pretty easy.  I drove Mick and I to my usual dentist office where Mick was going to do the driving home.  Erik had a class he couldn't miss that day.  The oral surgeon was someone I'd never met before.  The usual receptionist, Tina, gave me the release form that I had to go through and intial all the what ifs.  I'd done research, so I was aware of all of them.  The possiblity that my jaw could be broken, a sinus cavity could open up, I could get dry socket, so on and so forth.  Doctor Lee, sat with me and talked over any concerns I might have had and within 10 minutes of arriving at the dentist office.. I had an IV put into my arm.  "Your going to start falling asleep soon", said Dr. Lee.  I laid back closed my eyes.  I remember then putting a lip seperater in my mouth and the next thing I knew, I was starting to come out of the sedation and they were still working on my Right upper wisdom. I vaguely remember them pounding on the right side of my mouth and the next thing they were asking me to get up slowly.  They helped me to another chair, and brought Mick in.  My mouth was so full of gauze, I couldn't talk and was trying to use sign language alphabet to communicate, but of course, none of them knew the alphabet.  It was pretty funny.  I got my pain med subscription along with some extra gauze.  I was in and out of the office in just over an hours time.

Since I wasn't in pain, Mick and I decided to head over to Walgreen's to fill my prescriptions.  While in the store, I started to ooze a little out of my mouth, so Mick went to get my gauze out of the car.  We walked the store picking up food items that I could eat over the next few days.  Apple Sauce, beans and chocolate ice cream to name a few.  I even bought a Claim Jumper chocolate cream pie.  I still wasn't feeling any pain at this time.

We get home about 12:30 and I immediatly camp out on the couch.  The pain has decided to set in and I'm suppose to eat something before I take my pain meds.  I can barely move my jaw at this point, but manage to get down a container of apple sauce and take my meds.  They don't seem to work.  My face is extremely swallon and I even cried over the pain.  I took a hot bath to soak my head because I had also developed a migraine and they always help my migraines.. It also helped put me to sleep for an hour and a half.  I woke up about 6pm and the worst of the pain had subsided.. I was on the mend.

Sunday, I spend most of the day on the couch and the swelling was half the size it was Saturday.

Today was Tuesday, and I'm only now starting to chew a little bit with my back teeth.  I've been craving a grilled cheese sandwich for days and finally decided to try and eat one and it took a while but boy did it taste good.  I'm still a tiny bit swollen, but it should be gone by friday.  I also have some slight bruising which I also hope is gone soon.  My follow up appointment is Friday morning before my fun weekend.  I hope I can eat my filet mignon at the wedding.

Things happen Fast

Wow.. I haven't posted in over a week. I've been wanting to post, but of course it's finding the time and the motivation to do so. Since I last posted, I went to Knotts Scary Farm for my friend Josef's Birthday day. Those of you who have me on MySpace and Facebook will see my new default pic of Erik and I there that Arielle took. Mostly during the week, I've just been working and coming home. Not really doing much else. I've been busy both at work and home, but doing the stuff I should be like cleaning and organizing. This past Saturday, Erik and I went to Riverside to eat Sushi and celebrate his old Friend Valerie finally earning her BA after 15 years of hard work. We went to a local club we've frequented in the past and it just isn't the same. I ran into one of my old faire friends who's usually there, but not no one else outside of our little party. We ended up leaving before midnight. We stayed home all day Sunday just playing video games. I did get laundry done.

Today, I got Enchanted in the mail through my Netflix and plan on probably watching by myself tonight since I doubt I'll talk Erik into watching it with me. Also, Erik had a dentist appointment to help work on a periodontal his was having and while there, they had put in the PPO that I'd recently enacted at my job so we'd have more dental coverage and they discovered that my PPO plan will cover most of my wisdom removal. We tired getting approval through my HMO last year and they kept refusing. It would have been about 1,500 out of pocket if I went through with it then. Their specialist is going to be in the office on Saturday and it's going to cost $250 for all 4 plus the sedation. I was going to be attending my best friend fianance's birthday this Saturday, but I spoke to her and hopefully she understands that I can't pass this up. My insurance will role over again starting in January and I'll be getting implants next year, so I'd loose out on the $250 from my insurance and have to pay more out of pocket if I waited till next year. I'll have all Sunday to rest and then head back to work on Monday. I'm nervous about going under though. I've never been under before. Thankfully, the option was this weekend and not next weekend.. that would have sucked.. I would have turned it down then.. I'll be out of town.
