I had a great Spring Break from work. I only had to work 2 days last week. I mentioned Wednesday that I had my dentist appointment and I had to do my crappy cleaning job which I'm doing tonight, but I still had a relaxing night or playing on DDR since I had gotten my new foot pad.
Thursday, I woke up and cleaned some of the apartment. I had plans of hanging out with Christina and spending the night at her place that night. I left Fullerton around 2:20pm in the hopes of avoiding most of the traffic. For the most part I did. However, when I passed the 405 on the 101, traffic suddenly slowed to a crawl. I was stuck in accident traffic for another 45 minutes. I finally got to Christina's after 4:30. Jim and her were up in the TV room watching March Madness. I actually got into it. They had their picks so I was of course pulling for the teams my cousin chose. We even went to see Jim play in his basketball league that night. His team won, but it was a close fight. It's was Maddie's first time to her Daddy's basketball game and of course she slept through the whole thing. We ended up back at their house where Christina make us some pasta and we played Clue. I hadn't played that in forever. It was funny how all of us were taking really long notes on everything. Jim ended up blowing the game when he had a card and said he didn't. It was really funny because he had accused someone earlier for doing the same thing and someone had. So we didn't have a winner. I ended up sleeping in the den with a fire on. I was cozy.
I woke up to Jim buying donuts, just what I needed for my diet heehee, but I ended up eating 2 and drinking some OJ which I normally drink Diet soda (I know I'm bad). We sat around watching more March Madness. Christina and I ended up finishing the West Kentucky vs. Drake game. Drake should have won due to their standing, but WKY won by 2 points 101- 99 in Overtime. It was a really good game to watch. I left their place at around 12:20. I decided to take a different route home. I was going to go down the 405-10-60-57. I am never taking that route ever again. I didn't get home till after 3:00pm. I thought with it being early afternoon that traffic wouldn't be as bad through LA. Boy was I wrong. I made it home and had a lazy relaxing Friday night. I got into a book and ended up staying up till 3am. I was due to pick up Erik at the airport around 10am. He texts me at 5am (of course it wakes me up) and tells me he missed his flight due to his alarm clock not going off. I'm not very happy, but he's able to get a flight that gets him in at 3:15. We're due to have a sushi outing with some of our friends that night around 6ish.
Our friends show up and we head off to a whole in the wall sushi place Erik and I had never been to before. I'm not a huge fan of sushi, but it was a cute place. There was 7 of us total. My friend Micah had befriended a girl at work, so I'm not the only girl in the group anymore. It's nice to know another geek girl like myself. So all of us decided on the all you can eat sushi for $25. Erik and I didn't realize that they brought out 5-6 pieces per type you ordered so we started with 4. I didn't be past that 4. I really liked this one roll. It was a California Roll deep friend in Tempura and it was topped with spicey tune. I guess I prefer my fish cooked a little. If we go there again.. I know what to do.. Not order as much sushi and get more of the appettizers like miso soup... hmmmmmm.
Sunday was Easter. We had plans to enjoy the 2nd annual Creepy Cages BBQ our friends put on at Grittith Park in the Old LA Zoo area. Boy was that park crowded. Erik ended up having to illegally park, but everyone was so no tows or tickets. We got to picnic inside one of the cages. I brought Brie Cheese and it was popular. When I get home tonight, I'll try and remember to post a pic of the event. We played frisbee and with velcro balls. We even had an egg hunt. I only found 2 eggs, but Ryan and Erik gave me their eggs and I ended up winning eye shadow of all things.
I'm been at work for 2 days and I already miss the weekend. Faire starts up in a little over a week, and I already miss my weekends. I hope the drama is more low key this year.
After being laid off from a job I loved and have been a part of since I was 16, I needed an outlet for the happy and frustrating moments in my life. Born, raised and living in Southern California, I am 41 years old and happily married to my best friend. We have 2 adorkable boys age 6 and 2. Taking life one day at a time. I plan to share our adventures, my interests, and occasional frustrations. Fair warning, it takes a lot for me to dislike something.

Getting Ready to go to Christina's
That was really weird. I was typing in the title and then all of a sudden my blog posted. I deleted it and am attempting to post it again.
My last day of work this week was Tuesday. Only working 2 days, I was a bit stressed at work trying to get everything done that I needed to. I still have a lot of folders to get ready and I'll have to go in early again on Monday due to folders not being ready for Orientations that morning. I've been playing catch up for 2 weeks now. Damn those last minute night school plans. It really put me behind and my desk is showing it.
I ended up taking yesterday off for my Dentist appointment. I slept in till about 9am. i got up and did DDR for about an hour. I ordered a new foot pad for it on Monday and got it on Tuesday. Rarely do I get my internet orders in that super fast. I immediately started using it that night. It's been a while since I enjoyed playing the game that much but it is so nice having a foot pad that works instead of skipping. Needless to say, I did a lot of working out the last 2 days thanks to it. It didn't show on the scale though.
So After my cleaning job (can't wait to quit it in a few months, the guy's house is just disgusting, I do what I can, but he is such a pack rat), I went to my dentist appointment. I walk into the office and the assistant (can't ever remember her name) is ordering starbucks. She asks if I want something. They bought me a Tall White Chocolate Mocha. The funny thing was on the way over there, I had heard a Starbucks commercial on the radio and thought that the last time I had any was my annual job review when my boss bought me some back in December. At this point, I'll never have to buy my own starbucks LOL. First my boss and now my dentist. I was only in the chair for 1 hour 15 minutes. The quickest visit yet. My dentist added a rubber bridge on my bottom to close a gap that had developed, but to do so, she had to take of the rubber bands and put the metal ties back on. One of my brackets we discovered had popped off so she had to reattach it. She also had to adjust the spring by my fake tooth. My fake tooth is now just tied on to the spring. You didn't really need to read about my dentist visit, but I wanted to write about it.
Today is my official weigh-in for SparkPeople.com. Not only did I not loose weight the last week (the first time since I started this about 2 months ago), but I was .75 a pound higher. It didn't bother me. I suspected being that time of the month helped with that. I appear to have hit another plateau. I feel like I hit one almost ever pound or so. But it is a slow steady loss and I am enjoying my clothes get looser.
That's it for now. I hope everyone else's week is going well.

Caught up on my TV
Yesterday ended up being catch up on the DVR. I got home from work about 5pm. Immediately got in my work out gear. My DDR pad is still on the fritz, but I'm going to work out. I got out my step. Turned on last Thursday's episode of General Hospital (can't seem to stop watching it all together, even if I give it breaks every few years). I then pulled out the my step and just started stepping while I watched. Before I knew it I had worked out of over 25 minutes. Did some strength exercises and then sat down for my night of TV. I finished 2 more episodes of General hospital and moved on the a epi of Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Bleach. I also watched the season finale of Stargate Atlantis, and 2 episodes of the show New Amsterdam. I also watched an episode of Smallville and Reaper. I finished the evening with a cheesy 2 hour 3rd movie to the Cutting Edge. Yes they made not just 2 but a third movie. It was cheesy, cute and formulaic so I liked it LOL. So I started watching tv at about 5pm when I got home and I finallly went to bed at 12:30. I don't normally watch this much tv straight.. I usually only devote an hour or 2 a day... I love fast forwarding through the slow parts and commercials of course.
The only other eventual thing that happened was that Mick was MIA. He had left Friday to go visit friends in SD and by Monday evening, I had no word on him. He was supposed to work on Monday so I assumed he'd be home by Sunday night. Erik called his friend that he started at over the weekend and found he had left to visit someone in El Cajon Sunday Afternoon, but no word after that. His phone had died. We finally heard from him and he got home around 11:30 last night. I was into the chessy figure skating movie at this point. The funny part was I never changed out of my work out gear till it was time to go to bed. My life is exciting sometimes. :can you hear the sarcasm:

Sunday Goodbyes
I'm driving Erik to the airport in a few hours. At least, he's only gone for a little over 5 days.. I pick him back up Early next Saturday morning. I wish I could afford to go with him because I will miss him immensely. He's only been home a week and he's leaving again to go back to the same place.
Otherwise, it's been an eventual week. At work, I've been swamped with student folders and deliveries from UPS. I am having difficulty keeping up with it right now. I'm going to be going in a little early tomorrow to try and do some catch up. Friday, I didn't even get a full day of work in thanks to meetings. I did get to eat at an excellent Italian restaurant at Victoria Gardens called Sisley Itatlian Kitchen. It was on the company since it was a lunch meeting. After the meeting, I drove a coworker who doesn't drive home and went to the cleaning job I'm still unable to quit (I like the money too much). So I get home and wait for Erik. We're going over to Heath and Karen's for dinner.
Heath as usual make a great meal of steak, asparagus, cesar salad, spinach, garlic bread, mac & cheese (Ryan's contribution) and we had Claim jumpers Chocolate Silk pie for dessert. Face it to say, I exceeded my calorie intake. It was good company and good time. I passed out when we watched lil' Bush and South Park, so we headed home.
Saturday, we drove my car up to Victorville to drop off for the bumper repair. Freddy is taking it for me on Monday and driving it down to me next Friday. We did laundry and I introduced my mom to StarDust. Erik washed the cars. Big mistake! He not only called the rain gods but the snow gods. We left about 5pm and it was snowing pretty heavily in the Victor Valley. The biggest snow fall they've had all year. We made it home ok, but it was nice to see it snow.
Ryan met up with us at about 7:30. We headed to Downtown Fullerton for dinner and bars. We had originally planned on attending the Poxy Boggards show, but due to some drama this week. We felt it best not to attend. It's a long story that I choose to not to get into here and doesn't really involve me. We didn't really have any plans on where we were going, but every where seemed to have about an hour wait so we parked it at the Old Spaghetti Factory. We had some drinks and appetizers in the bar while we waited for a table. After dinner, we walked over to Heroes, so I could introduce Ryan to the place. He said he really like the atmosphere. I was a bit of a party pooper and talked everyone into leaving early. I was a little buzzed, but my feet were absolutely killing me. We'd been talking about the movie Equilibrium. Ryan and Talon had introduced me to it a couple of weeks ago and we wanted to show it to Erik. We didn't have a rental card for any place because we always buy, so we hit the local video store Erik and I always talked about getting a card at and rented it. I ended up falling asleep about 15 minutes in LOL. Ryan left about an hour in and Erik stayed up to watch the rest. I definitely want to check out more of downtown eventually. it's a cool little spot.
Today has been a lazy day playing City of Heroes and cleaning the apartment. Gotta go make dinner before I take Erik to the airport.

Erik's leaving again
Erik calls me at work and tells me his boss wants him back out to Herndon for another 2 weeks. He does not want to be gone that long again due to his normal work duties as training coordinator. Plus he doesn't want to put his life on hold and be away from me that long... 2 weeks was a long time for us. We also planned on getting my car into the shop this weekend to get the bumper fixed.
So he finally gets ahold of his boss. He's heading back out to Herndon this Sunday night, but for only 5 days. He's coming back Saturday morning early. I can deal with 5 days. Plus i'll still have him on the weekends. The rest of the week has been planned as well.
Tonight, I'm going to meet cousin Maddie for the first time (can't wait). Friday, we're heading over the Heaths for a long over due hang out. Saturday during the day, we'll drive my car up to the body shop in Hesperia and that night we'll be seeing the Poxy Boggards at the El Rey in Hollywood for their CD release and St Patty's Day celebration. Sunday, Erik and I will spend the day together being lazy until, I drive him to the airport.
Then I'll get to be without my Bed Buddy again for 5 days.... Who to bug? heehee.

So Many Decisions....
I'm always torn on who to call and who to spend time with. I wish I could spend time with everyone. It seems the only time friends and family have to spend is on the weekends. There are only 52 of them a year. I'm making the time to go see Christina, Jim and Madison after work on Thursday because I really really want to. Mick wants Erik and I to go to San Diego to see their old friend Baker (He was also one of Erik's groom's men at our wedding).. He's only seen him once since the wedding and he only lives in San Diego. I don't see my family enough. My parents never come down to visit me either.
So here are the decisions for this weekend, Friday, Erik's friend Heath wants to hang out. Saturday is our indecisive day. We need to get my car into the body shop to get the bumper fixed. The Poxy Boggards are doing their annual St. Patty's Day concert in Hollywood (Last years was a blast!) with Ryan, Drive now to San Diego, or go check in with my Ren Faire Boss like I tried to do last Saturday but she wasn't there. There's another snaffoo to my weekends. The Ren Faire is coming!! This will be my 7th year working it. Probably my last working in for most of the weekends. It's just a lot of work to be doing with already working 5 days a week. It's fun work and I like having the extra cash, but next year, I am not doing this. Erik and I will probably take my car to the shop and then see the Poxy Boggards in the evening. It will be a fun night. Hmmmmm, maybe Erik and I can talk Ryan into driving heehee. I hate parking in Hollywood. Then Sunday, we'll check out faire site and I'll check in with my boss... Oh and I have a 4 day weekend off from work next weekend.... Wooo... Have picnic plans on Easter Sunday though.

Work Dulldrums
Last Wednesday, my boss told me to get 30 students tested and scheduled for Enrollment Orienation tonight Monday. The assesment test usually takes 1.5 hours per student. I only had Thursday to call and schedule for Friday. We had 130 students on the waiting list to enroll, so I spend most of Thursday calling students off of it. I called I think 60 people. By the end of Thursday, I had 25 officially scheduled for testing, 20 messages waiting for people to call me back, and everyone else was either no answer or no longer interested in enrolling. I love how they plan these things last minute. As of today, I did get 30 student scheduled tonight. 6 still need to do the assesment. Of those 20 messages, only 2 called me back. Normally, I test about 10 students through out the week for enrollment. Getting 30 students enrolled in 3 days noticed is a lot. Not to mention all the work I've been having to put to the side to do this. Once the students have had orientations, I have will have 30 students to input into the computer... I usually takes me 15 minutes to do one folder. I hope they get me some help on this because i'm only one Center Coordinator, while most other locations have 2 doing the same job. I maybe complaining about my job now, but for the most part I do like it. I'm not a fan of last minute large projects. They have communication issues in my company at times.
